Luuk Rietveld
Luuk is an associate in the Litigation & Commercial Contracting team. He focuses on advising and litigating on a variety of issues, particularly in the field of corporate law and (international) contract and commercial law.
Recent work
- Commercial litigation in first instance and in appeal for a Singaporean company engaged in the production and development of biological products, concerning alleged damages suffered by the opposing party.
- Ongoing advice on commercial agreements and general terms and conditions for an international retail company operating in the fast-moving consumer goods sector.
- Conducting negotiations following legal proceedings for a German spice company facing global product recalls.
- Arbitration and binding advice proceedings before various institutions for a diverse range of (national and international) clients, such as the Netherlands Arbitration Institute (NAI), the Disputes Committee (de Geschillencommissie), and the Arbitration Board for the Construction Industry (de Raad voor Arbitrage voor de Bouw).
- Legal proceedings involving a Dutch company in the events industry regarding an unlawful press publication.
Specifics
Luuk completed his Masters in ‘Commercial and Company Law’ and ‘Bar and Bench’ at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam and joined HEUSSEN in 2019. He is fluent in Dutch and English.

Luuk has registered the principal legal practice area CIVIL LAW / LITIGATION in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister). Based on this registration, he is required to obtain ten (10) training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
