Suzanne Gerritse
Suzanne is a senior associate in the Employment law practice advising both national and international clients on matters concerning Dutch Employment law. Suzanne is admitted to the Netherlands Bar (Nederlandse orde van advocaten, NOvA) in 2016. She is a regular contributor to professional journals and frequently organizes workshops and master courses for companies, tax professionals and HRM-students.
Recent work
- Advised a bank, a pharmaceutical company and an automobile parts manufacturer in relation to a restructuring process involving dismissals;
- Advised a beverage manufacturer and an international translation company on the employment law implications of a transfer of an undertaking;
- Assisted multiple (international) clients with the reintegration of ill employees and litigated in cases concerning decisions made by the Dutch Employee Insurance Agency (UWV) in this regard;
- Gave workshops for clients and tax professionals on various employment law topics, such as false self-employment;
- Delivered a comprehensive master course on the employment law implications of reorganizations.
Specifics
Suzanne graduated from the University of Leiden in Civil law and Employment law. In 2020 she completed the Postgraduate course on Employment Law (PALA) at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. Suzanne joined HEUSSEN in 2016. She is fluent in Dutch and English.

Suzanne has registered the principal legal practice area EMPLOYMENT LAW in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister). Based on this registration, she is required to obtain ten (10) training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
