House for Whistleblowers Act entered into force

On 1 July 2016 the House for Whistleblowers Act (Wet Huis voor klokkenluiders) entered into force. The purpose of the Act is to improve the conditions for reporting abuses within organisations and to provide better protection for those individuals who report such abuses (‘whistleblowers’).

The Act provides for the establishment of a national ‘house’ for whistleblowers which carries out investigations with respect to reports of abuses and provides advice on how to solve problems. Abuses in both the public and the private sectors may be reported to the house for whistleblowers.
